After the completion of a successful Pilot Program at select Canadian multi-residential buildings (September \u2013 November 2019) Snaile received the first of its kind in Canada and the only official approval to deliver to Snaile lockers by all major Canadian carriers nationally including Canpar, DHL, FedEx, Intelcom (a major Amazon carrier), Purolator and UPS. This means that Snaile has delivery contracts in place with most major Canadian carriers which addresses concerns such as who is liable for deliveries into lockers (Snaile participates in liability under contract), precludes delivery companies from leaving parcels laying around and ensures that carriers officially deliver to Snaile. Carrier drivers know in advance direct from their head office through formal channels that they are to deliver to a Snaile locker before they even show up to a Snaile install and Snaile deliveries are marked in their internal delivery workflows as \u201cDelivered to Snaile\u201d much like a delivery code like \u201cleft with concierge\u201d, eliminating liability associated with non-approved lockers and ensuring carrier adoption.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Carrier logos and their respective\/unique delivery workflows are now displayed and accessed by Canadian carriers at each Snaile locker site throughout Canada. All other carriers such as the local flower shop or prepared meals service that do not have their logo displayed, can also make deposits via the \u201cOther Carrier\u201d workflow button (Snaile continues to expand its integration with other Canadian carriers and delivery services). Snaile assigns on-boarding specialists to each new location on the go-live date to greet carriers and walk them through a typical deposit process, introduce the smart amenity to residents and staff and to train property managers with all the tools and features the Snaile Cloud offers.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
This is the first and only official approval by Canadian carriers of automated parcel lockers in Canada for use in multi-residential applications. Many carriers will not deliver to non-Snaile lockers, and those drivers that do deliver to non-Snaile lockers are doing so without corporate approval which then raises the question of liability, longevity and locker deliveries being systemic.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Other parcel locker companies attempt to make a building\u2019s locker introduction by phoning the carrier\u2019s local supervisor (under the radar) in hopes the drivers will actually<\/em> receive the message and then actively adopt the new parcel delivery method. This method can never stay on top of driver changes, is not systemic and presents liability issues. Our findings prove that formal and official parcel carrier integration plus Snaile\u2019s live on-boarding session is critical to making the parcel locker program ongoing and successful.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Non-Snaile parcel locker companies have been known to post\u00a0the carrier login code\u00a0on the non-Snaile lockers (property\u00a0managers have been\u00a0known to adopt this method as well in efforts to facilitate carrier deposits), further substantiating that there is no systemic adoption of their locker systems in Canada and the non-Snaile locker process is haphazard in Canada.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
